Third Annual KETCH Champions’ Golf Tournament...Driving the HERO in you!
KETCH hosted its Third Annual KETCH Champions’ Golf Tournament…Driving the HERO in you, on Monday, May 15, at the Tallgrass Country Club in Wichita. Thirty-three teams filled the field and helped raise more than
$15,000 to support the services KETCH provides to more than 900 Kansans with disabilities each year.
The day began at 9:30 a.m. with registration. Golfers received tee-bags and “KETCH” embroidered wind vests donated by CBIZ and Dick Dameron; embroidering was donated by US Logo. A number of golfers found their way to the putting contest, but only 14 qualified for the putting finals. The grand prizewinner was Mike Wilson.
Lunch was catered and served by Carrabba’s Italian Grill. At 1 p.m., players began their round of golf with a shotgun start. Special contests were held throughout the course including an opportunity to win a car on a hole in one sponsored by Saturn of Wichita. Other contests included the longest drive and the longest putt for men and women and a closest to the pin competition.
“We received positive feedback from many golfers who play every year and some who've never played in a KETCH
tournament before,” said Tim Wasinger, director of development and community relations and coordinator of the event. “Everyone seemed to enjoy the food and prizes.”
The evening concluded with dinner and an awards ceremony where KETCH gave out winning team prizes (several of which were sponsored by Taco Bell), lots of door prizes, and the announcement of the recipient of the five-night Carnival Cruise for two donated by Village Tours. The name drawn was Don Baxter. First Flight/ First Place winners were Brady Scott, Rob Jacob, Jason Laub and Jay Schroeder. Second Flight/ First Place winners were Daron Cox, Terry Taylor, Rick Stevenson and Kevin Cox. The team with the lowest gross score was Jermey Palenske, Wally Fair, Don VanDegrift and Corey McKee.
