Elks Involvement
In 1964, the Kansas Elks Association adopted a training program for adults with mental retardation that was created by Wichita parents. With an initial donation of $30,000 from the Kansas Elks, the organization was formally incorporated as a Kansas not-for-profit organization. Members of the Kansas Elks Association are designated as members of KETCH and elected Elks serve on the KETCH board of directors.
Each year, KETCH receives funding from the Kansas Elks through:
- Funds allocated by the Kansas Elks Association through the Elks National Foundation;
- Elks annual lodge membership dues;
- The Ladies of the Elks annual fund-raiser for KETCH.
In addition to KETCH, the Elks support several other important causes, including:
- State and national scholarships
- Drug awareness prevention programs
- Veterans programs
- Youth services, such as:
- Americanism
- Hoop Shoot
- Soccer Shoot
